WeVote is making some moves. We Vote’s hard work to bring the voter experience into the digital age has not gone unnoticed. In June, WeVote was one of ten tech nonprofits accepted into the Fast Forward Nonprofit Tech accelerator. This is a great opportunity that allows us to hone our audacious goal to create an online interactive guide for every voter and every election across the country.
To start off, acceptance into Fast Forward’s accelerator signals to a broad audience what volunteers at WeVote already knew. WeVote is building technology that scales social impact. We Vote clears the clutter and makes election prep engaging. And, we do this on an open source platform that is nonpartisan and built 100% by volunteers.
- WeVote’s voter guide for American elections shows what is on your ballot, how thousands of groups recommend you should vote, and how to vote your values based on issues you choose.
- WeVote is free for voters, saves a voter time, and decreases confusion. Because of this, WeVote helps organizations and candidates guide their supporters through the process of getting ready to vote.
Many voters feel confused when they try to figure out how to vote. As a result, they end up voting for candidates that don’t share their values, leading to poor results. Political campaigns, media spin, and very loud partisan voices have an undue influence on the decisions voters make. WeVote shows voters what is on their ballot, combined with endorsements for candidates or ballot initiatives, from the people and organizations the voter chooses to follow, along with the reasons for their support.
The Fast Forward Nonprofit Tech accelerator is a Google-backed accelerator for tech nonprofits. Fast Forward participants iterate on and hone their services during a three-month program that culminates in two demo days. These days occur in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Founders pitch their ideas to philanthropic donors to raise additional capital. Each nonprofit accepted into Fast Forward’s cohort receives a $25,000 grant, mentorship from vetted veterans of the business and nonprofit world, and introductions to other non-profit founders and financiers. We’re already counting down to Accelerator kickoff on July 18th and are excited to be apart of diverse cohort of nonprofits who are dedicating to creating a more just world.
In the meantime, you might notice the changes we made to our logo. In addition, we have a new 501(c)(3)-only website: WeVote.me. You’ll be able to sign into either WeVote.US or WeVote.me with your usual account.
