Volunteering at WeVote
Q. What is your WeVote title and what team do you volunteer for?
A. Recruiter, TA/Recruiting Team
Q. How long have you been with WeVote?
A. It will be a year this November.
Q. What attracted you to volunteering with WeVote?
A. The opportunity to work with an organization using tech for change and making an impact with the community through voting while at the same time fine-tuning my skills in recruiting.
Q. Tell us about your position. What does a week of volunteering look like for you?
A. As a recruiter, my week generally looks like screening and interviewing candidates, creating and posting positions, collaborating with team leads, extending offers, and helping candidates onboard.
Q. Why do you believe WeVote is important?
A. It provides a platform for the community to engage in the democratic process by making it easier for them to register to vote and access politically neutral information on candidates and issues to help make informed decisions in order to confidently vote.
Q. What is your best advice or thoughts for someone who is interested in volunteering with WeVote?
A. I would advise those who are considering volunteering with WeVote to firstly familiarize themselves with our organization’s missions and goals, check for any openings that fit their experience, and reach out to any one of us on the Talent Acquisition/Recruiting team.
Q. Why is voting important to you?
A. Besides being a fundamental right, voting is important to me because it is a powerful tool for shaping the future of our communities and country. Each vote represents a voice and has the potential to influence decisions that impact our lives, our rights, and our society for years to come. By exercising my right to vote, I feel empowered to contribute to the democratic process and be a part of creating positive change. Voting allows me to have a say in the direction of our country and ensures that my values and concerns are represented in our government.

Q. Do you have any pets?
A. I have a nine-month-old Shiba Inu named Noel.
Q. Do you have any hobbies or favorite things to do in your hometown?
A. My hobbies are drawing and reading.
Q. Do you have a favorite book and/or book that you’re reading right now?
A. A book I’m reading right now is a collection of Miss Marple short stories by Agatha Christie.
Q. Who is your favorite band/musical artist and/or type of music and why?
A. When it comes to music, I’m all over the place, but I would say right now my favorite artists are Thundercat and Shygirl.
Q. Tell us about your greatest personal or work accomplishment.
A. My greatest personal achievement was finally setting up my online art shop last year.
Q. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A. When I was a kid, I either wanted to be a princess or an artist. I’d like to say I’ve accomplished the artist part.
