Hello. This is Dale McGrew, the Executive Director of WeVote, for those who don’t know me. I wanted to review 2024 and then discuss what’s coming in 2025.

I love volunteering at WeVote. I love the work itself (for me, programming and organizational development) and getting things done each week surrounded by other talented and interesting doers. The icebreaker questions we started this year have helped me learn more about many of you—let’s keep getting to know each other! At our core, we are 100% volunteer-run, and 2024 brought many innovations to how we do things at WeVote. This last year we added or improved many internal collaboration tools for our 17 teams and over 120 active volunteers. In 2025, new homegrown onboarding and team management tools will help us keep all our teams fully staffed, with less herculean effort required by the team leads and human resources.

I’m excited by WeVote because Americans need faster ways to see which candidates truly have our best interests at heart. The candidates who win elections shouldn’t be determined by who has the most money behind them. I trust voters to vote for candidates who support their values when truth isn’t being obscured. I see WeVote as a way to help all Americans cut through disinformation, misinformation, and disingenuous alternate realities that mislead people to vote against their best interests. Our job is to connect voters with trusted friends, communities, and thought leaders, so the voices of the people we trust are louder than the loud-speakers of paid media.

In 2025-2026, we will continue strengthening democracy one friend at a time by connecting voters with their preferences and inspiring voting in every election. New efforts will include:

  1. Helping voters build their friend networks on WeVote.
  2. Helping candidates get help from their supporters to reach more voters.
  3. Crowdsourcing data for local races, candidates, and endorsements.

I am grateful for many things America is doing right now, and I trust we will continue evolving as a nation. America has all the resources and smarts it needs, and I’m sure we can ultimately work together to figure out the path to a better future for everyone. I am grateful to be on this journey with all of you. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and I look forward to working with you in 2025!
